Identity change.

The national postal service La Poste/De Post is taking all precautions for its rebranding ahead of the liberalisation of the postal monopoly in 2011. The new name will be bpost, but the company also registered the names apost and A-post to avoid being shown up by private competition.

Daring Daerden

He's at it again.

A mobile election poster for Walloon Pensions Minister Michel Daerden mounted on a trailer and parked on the E42 motorway was in breach of election regulations signed into law by the same minister, according to La Meuse.

Walloon Public Works Minister BenoĆ®t Lutgen lambasted the road safety agency’s (IBSR/BIVV) latest campaign because the roadside posters take too long to read. “It takes too long to read and, in terms of road safety, that is not appropriate”, he said.

Brussels police arrested two nude cyclists who had turned up completely in the buff at Place de La Monnaie/Muntplein for the 6th annual Cyclonudista bicycle rally on Saturday, 19 June. The two were released shortly afterwards after discussions between police and the organisers. 80 lightly clad cyclists turned up for the ride to Ixelles/Elsene meant to highlight the need for less traffic and a greener lifestyle.

A prison guard who narrowly escaped death during a violent jail break 10 years ago can’t sue for psychological damages because the courts have lost his case file. Patrick De Backer was driving the van that was sprayed with machine gun fire in 2001 and was held hostage with a gun to his head. De Backer was unable to work for over a year and eventually quit.
